The Yonristic Performance Exhaust System for the BMW E89 Z4 is designed to replace the restrictive factory catback exhaust with a performance-oriented architecture that enhances both exhaust flow and acoustic character.
At the front of the system is a large 3.5-inch collector section, which gathers exhaust flow efficiently before transitioning into a dual 2.75-inch midpipe layout. This design increases the overall exhaust capacity while maintaining optimal gas velocity, allowing the engine to breathe more efficiently throughout the entire RPM range.
One of the key acoustic elements of the system is the extended X-pipe crossover located in the center section. By blending exhaust pulses from both cylinder banks over a longer crossover section, the extended X-pipe refines the exhaust harmonics and produces a smoother, more exotic sound signature. The result is a sharper, higher-frequency tone under acceleration while maintaining a deep and controlled character during cruising.
The system incorporates valved mufflers controlled by a remote valve control module, giving drivers full control over the exhaust personality. With the valves closed, exhaust gases pass through the internal muffler chambers, creating a more subdued tone suitable for daily driving and long-distance cruising. When the valves are opened, the exhaust flow follows a more direct path, unleashing a louder and more aggressive sound with stronger overrun character and sharper throttle response.
Constructed with precision mandrel-bent piping and hand TIG welded joints, the exhaust system ensures consistent internal flow while maintaining structural durability. The system is designed as a direct bolt-on installation using factory mounting locations, ensuring seamless fitment and straightforward installation.
