BMW S68 MaxFlow Downpipes
Primary + Secondary Heat-Shielded Downpipe System
Built for BMW’s newest S68 twin-turbo V8, the Yonristic MaxFlow Downpipes replace the restrictive factory primary and secondary downpipe sections with a high-flow, heat-shielded system designed for maximum exhaust efficiency, stronger sound, and sharper turbo response. Available in both free-flow catless and 200-cell high-flow catted configurations, this system is made for serious S68 builds that demand more flow, more volume, and more performance potential.
BMW’s S68 is used across the latest high-performance BMW M and M Performance V8 platforms, including the G90 M5, G99 M5 Touring, G05/G06 M60i models, and the LCI F95/F96 X5 M / X6 M Competition platforms. BMW confirms the 2024 X5 M and X6 M Competition use the new S68 4.4L V8, while aftermarket S68 downpipe fitment data also supports G90/G99 M5 and G05/G06 M60i applications.
Vehicle Fitment
Designed for BMW models equipped with the S68 4.4L twin-turbo V8, including:
- BMW G90 M5
- BMW G99 M5 Touring
- BMW G05 LCI X5 M60i
- BMW G06 LCI X6 M60i
- BMW G07 X7 M60i
- BMW F95 LCI X5 M Competition
- BMW F96 LCI X6 M Competition
Fitment should be confirmed before ordering, especially for regional variations, right-hand-drive vehicles, and models using different underbody layouts. BMW also uses the S68 in other platforms such as the XM, and 760i, but physical downpipe geometry may vary by chassis.
The Yonristic S68 MaxFlow Downpipes are engineered as a complete primary and secondary downpipe set, designed to remove the major exhaust restrictions located directly after the turbochargers. On the S68 platform, exhaust flow, turbo efficiency, and heat control are especially important because of the hot-vee twin-turbo layout and the high output demands of the engine. By reducing restriction immediately after the turbos, these downpipes allow exhaust gases to exit more efficiently, improving turbo response, increasing exhaust volume, and giving the S68 a much more aggressive character under load.
This system is available in two configurations. The free-flow catless version is designed for maximum exhaust flow, maximum sound, and the most aggressive performance setup. It is the best option for off-road or track-focused builds where flow and sound are the top priority. The 200-cell high-flow catted version is designed for customers who want a more balanced setup with improved flow over stock while retaining a catalytic structure. Both options dramatically improve the breathing ability of the S68 compared with the factory downpipe assembly.
Every section of the system is wrapped with full heat-shield protection. This is critical on the S68 platform because turbocharger and downpipe temperatures can be extremely high under load. The heat shielding helps reduce radiant heat inside the engine bay, protects surrounding components, and helps maintain more consistent performance during aggressive driving. It also gives the system a clean, motorsport-grade appearance while adding functional thermal protection.
Because these downpipes change the factory catalyst behavior, a check engine light may appear without ECU tuning, especially on the free-flow version. Tuning is strongly recommended to maximize performance, optimize drivability, and properly calibrate the vehicle for the increased exhaust flow. The CEL itself is related to catalyst and O2 sensor monitoring, and the downpipes are designed for increased flow and sound rather than factory emissions compliance.
This product is intended for off-road and track use only. It may not pass emissions inspections or be legal for use on public roads in certain states or regions. Customers are responsible for checking their local laws and regulations before purchasing or installing.
Complete Primary + Secondary Downpipe Set
Unlike secondary-only upgrades, this is a complete downpipe system that includes both the primary and secondary sections. This gives the S68 engine a much freer exhaust path from the turbo outlets through the downstream exhaust system, maximizing the sound and flow benefits.
Full Heat-Shielded Construction
Every downpipe section is fully wrapped in heat shielding to help control radiant heat around the engine bay and turbocharger area. This improves thermal protection for nearby components and helps maintain consistent performance during high-load driving.
Free-Flow or 200-Cell Catted Options
Choose the free-flow catless version for maximum sound and performance potential, or the 200-cell high-flow catted version for a more balanced setup with improved flow while retaining catalytic functionality.
Performance & Tuning Notes
The biggest improvements come from reduced backpressure, faster turbo response, stronger exhaust tone, and better high-RPM breathing. Similar S68 downpipe upgrades in the market are promoted for improved exhaust flow, sharper throttle response, stronger turbo spool, and measurable power gains, with some M60i S68 downpipe applications advertising around +15 HP depending on configuration and vehicle setup.
Tuning is recommended for best results. Without tuning, the vehicle may trigger a check engine light due to catalyst efficiency monitoring. The downpipes are designed to improve flow and sound, but they are not designed to maintain factory emissions behavior.
