Midpipe
Developed specifically for the F97 X3 M and F98 X4 M, the VANTA GOLD™ Midpipe is designed for owners who want a meaningful change in sound and flow without replacing the complete rear exhaust system. The factory mid-section is replaced with a larger dual 3-inch configuration, increasing flow capacity over the approximately 2.75-inch factory layout and providing additional headroom for tuned and higher-output S58 applications.
Rather than simply increasing pipe diameter and volume, the complete midpipe has been engineered as an acoustic system. At its center is the AURUM FLOW CORE™, the same proprietary crossover technology used throughout our S58 VANTA GOLD™ lineup. Produced through advanced 3D printing, the core uses sculpted internal geometry to control how exhaust pulses from both sides of the engine converge and interact. This allows the system to manage pressure-wave behavior more progressively than a conventional fabricated X-pipe.
The purpose of the AURUM FLOW CORE™ is not simply to mix exhaust gases. It is designed to tighten and structure the sound. As the S58 moves into higher engine speeds and exhaust velocity increases, traditional open crossover designs can introduce metallic rasp, scattered harmonics, and a sound that begins to break apart under load. The Flow Core helps maintain a more unified exhaust signature, allowing the desirable frequencies to develop while controlling the harshness that commonly accompanies a more free-flowing S58 exhaust.
The core is finished in our signature VANTA GOLD™ heat-resistant coating, providing additional thermal protection while giving the midpipe its distinctive identity. The advanced manufacturing and finishing process also makes the AURUM FLOW CORE™ one of the most technically demanding components within the system.
For the X3 M and X4 M platform, the Flow Core is paired with two dedicated resonators positioned further downstream. These resonators have a separate role from the crossover itself. While the AURUM FLOW CORE™ manages pulse interaction and upper-frequency structure, the resonators are tuned to reduce lower-frequency air rattle, harshness, and unwanted resonance that can occur at lower RPM and during changes in engine load.
This combination allows the VANTA GOLD™ Midpipe to remain deeper and more refined during everyday driving while still producing the sharper, cleaner, and more exotic high-RPM sound associated with the VANTA GOLD™ series.
When installed with the factory rear exhaust, the vehicle retains its original rear muffler architecture and factory valve functionality. This makes the VANTA GOLD™ Midpipe an ideal upgrade for customers who want a significantly more expressive S58 sound while maintaining the original rear section and OEM driving behavior.
Designed to Work with the Factory Axle-Back
The VANTA GOLD™ Midpipe allows owners to retain the factory X3 M / X4 M rear exhaust and valve system. Factory valve operation remains available through the vehicle's original driving modes, preserving the dual-personality nature of the M exhaust.
With the factory valves closed, the rear muffler continues to provide additional refinement for everyday driving and highway use. With the valves open, the freer-flowing VANTA GOLD™ mid-section allows significantly more of the S58's natural sound character to come through.
For owners seeking the complete transformation, the VANTA GOLD™ Midpipe can also serve as the foundation for our full VANTA GOLD™ exhaust configuration with the dedicated rear X-pipe axle-back system.
Performance & Flow
Moving to a dual 3-inch midpipe architecture provides greater exhaust flow capacity than the factory configuration and reduces downstream restriction. This is particularly beneficial on tuned vehicles where increased boost and airflow place greater demands on the exhaust system.
On an otherwise stock vehicle, the primary benefit is improved response, sound, and reduced restriction. On higher-output S58 builds, the larger piping provides additional flow headroom as power levels increase.
For customers pursuing a complete performance package, the midpipe can be paired with Yonristic Performance downpipes in MaxFlow free-flow, 200-cell, or 400-cell configurations, depending on the intended application.
